Gingerbread House!

We have (unsuccessfully) been trying to potty-train Luke for months now. We have tried everything but he has been very disinterested and even defiant about it. The kid has a lot of will power. Therefore, we haven't made much progress. 
Several weeks ago Keith bought a gingerbread house kit, which Luke spotted in the store and really, really wanted. We told him he could make it as soon as he pooped on the potty, and placed it on the top of our fridge. It sat there (and was hidden in the garage for a while as we threatened to return it to the store :) for weeks and though Luke has been very excited to talk about the house--he would go on and on about how he'd get the gingerbread house when he poops on the potty...he and Daddy would sit at the dining room table and make it...he would put the gumdrops on the roof...lots of detail--yet he still wouldn't go on the potty. He knows when he has to go, by the way, because he often sneaks away to poop in his diaper or underwear, which apparently is fairly common behavior. 

But today I forced him to sit on the potty, where he stayed (watching a show on the iPad) for an hour. When he got up to eat dinner he didn't say anything but Keith noticed that he had pooped in the toilet!

We were all so excited that a party broke out in the house - Christmas music playing, gingerbread house making, revelry all around. Of course, we had to remind him that this was just the first time pooping on the potty and he has to continue to do it (and to pee on the potty) every day. My expectation is pretty low, but you never know, maybe this will be the breaking point where he finally gets it. I told Luke that all I wanted for Christmas was for him to get out of diapers and on the potty. So he has a few more weeks to master the art.
