Last week Keith and I went on our first weeklong, kid-free vacation. We went with our great friends Matt & Carla, and Bob & Shelley--the same two couples that shared our Maine vacation last year--only for that trip we all had our little ones along. This one was a little different :)
We rented a villa that had a beautiful view over the Caribbean Sea, and a pool that took advantage of that view...
The water was classic Caribbean turquoise...and warm...
One day we chartered a sailboat and went to Jost van Dyke, a British Virgin Islands spot that is totally, totally awesome...

We celebrated Shelley's birthday while we were there, so we all showered and dressed up for a nice dinner out...
We had lots of laughs (and drinks) and though we all missed our kids (a little) and checked in (occasionally), we collectively decided that we could definitely do a no-kids vacation again sometime :)
On our last full day on St. John we stopped in for happy hour at a bar on the more rural end of the island. Keith fell in love with a piece of art on the wall, which was done by a young local kid, and bought it. It is currently on the slow boat out here...I'm hoping it arrives around Christmas so I can wrap it and give it to Keith (I wasn't thrilled; everyone convinced me it would be nice to have a conversation-piece souvenir from the trip).
It was a really fun and really relaxing week away. Now we're back to our real life and that's not so bad either :)
