Field Trip

Today I went with Luke's class on a field trip to This is the Place Heritage Park (it's the Mormon Plymouth Plantation). It's it a beautiful spot, perched on a hill overlooking the valley and both mountain ranges that surround Salt Lake City. So the story is, when the Mormon pioneers emigrated from the east, they came down (now called) Emigration Canyon and when they stumbled upon this spot they said "this is the place!" and set up shop. As you can imagine, there are many take-offs around town... restaurants claiming "THIS is the place", etc. 

We went on a (trackless) train ride around the property...

 Checked out a replica pioneer boat (must have been difficult dragging that boat all the way from the east coast! :)...

 Spent LOTS of time talking to the farm animals (are you surprised to see who's up on the fence?)...

Only a few brave kids stayed close to the cows after they let out a very loud "moooo" and scared the rest of the 2-year olds away from the fence!...

 This guy liked Teacher Terry...

 Nice spot for an alfresco snack...
