Baptism

Today was Anna Bridget's Baptism and she was a perfect angel. She slept for the almost entire Mass and ceremony -- even when the water was poured over her head! When she awoke she just smiled at everyone!

Luke, on the other hand, was a bit restless. The priest wanted us to sit in the front row and it was a semi-circular set up, so everyone in attendance got to see him playing with his jeep on the floor, making several breaks for the altar ("I need see flowers"), and hunting for snacks in my bag ("I foun it!"). Speaking of my bag, when we went up to the baptismal font for the ceremony, he grabbed my bag as though we were leaving and followed us saying "Mommy bag, Mommy bag!" He really gave us away as infrequent church-goers when, as he accompanied me to receive Communion and saw the bowl of hosts he said "Chips! Chips!"

But all in all, I only had to escort him out to the lobby once, for a few minutes...compared with another two-ish year old who spent most of the Mass out there wailing :-)

It was great to have Anna's Godparents Bill and Jeanne, as well as William there; we're so honored that they came all the way from New York to celebrate with us.

Anna looked lovely in her Baptism gown, which has now been worn by all of the Duffy children and grandchildren. On the ninth wear it still looks fantastic!
