A year ago I started counting the days until Anna's arrival. Now I wish the time would slow down.

Look Who's Walking
It's three days before Anna's 10-month birthday and she's walking! That's a new record for DuffyTown; Luke walked at 11 months. Here we go!
SNOW!!
It is finally snowing...and snowing, and snowing, and snowing. Alta's supposed to have over two fresh feet by tomorrow. Possibly more; Keith is driving down the canyon now and said it's blizzardy up there.
This morning we played inside with some neighbor kids because it was raining, and by afternoon it changed to snow. Luke watched excitedly out the window and begged to go out and make a snow turtle, which we'll definitely do tomorrow. If we can open the doors :)
Circa '39
I was looking up property tax info on the SLC assessor's website, and for our house they included this original photo:
The house was built in 1939 so it's probably from that year, or possibly the early '40s. The bottom half of our house is brick now, so we're guessing that it originally had shingles (or wood siding?) over the brick, which was later removed...? Considering that there are other houses bordering us in every direction now, it's neat to see it alone like this. It must have been one of the first ones on our street. The first thing that comes to mind is, with all of that space, why couldn't they have carved out a larger lot and built a bigger garage!?!At any rate, history is cool.

Artist
Pilar gave Luke and Anna an easel for Christmas and Luke is very into making paintings. As you can see, sometimes more paint ends up on the floor, the easel, AND HIM, than on the paper (which, in this pic, has fallen on the floor, spilling more paint). Luckily it's washable and he has been having a blast. It looks like the daily art session at school has sprouted his interest!

Window Fun
Anna could have stayed there for hours banging on the window, laughing at Keith, and leaning in for window kisses.

Ladybug
I found this ladybug riding toy in perfect condition at my favorite consignment shop. It was a great find because they are expensive when new, and Anna loves it.

Tubby
Tonight I was bathing the kids when Keith came up with the camera, proclaiming himself the family historian. For sake of Internet history I requested no private parts in the photos...he agreed.
I was making funny faces...
We've always called Luke the boy of a million expressions. Here are four cute ones:
Then of course, this little lady is getting cuter every day:

Sledding in the Park
We went sledding today and for some reason Luke liked running alongside the sled better than riding in it...strange kid.

On The Brink
Anna is a girl on the move. As Luke is often saying "get back here little lady!" And it's true, she's constantly on the move, trolling for food and trouble. She can stand on her own for quite a while, and can take one step before falling into my hands. She'll probably be on-par with Luke, walking at 11 months...but I won't be surprised if she pulls it off sooner.
Brown
Sadly, Utah (and much of the West) is having a terrible snow year...as Alta reports, the worst since 1976. We're accustomed to seeing a view like this from the top of Alta:
And right now it looks like this (though from the parking lot rather than the top of the ski resort):
Pray for snow!
Snow Day...Finally
It finally snowed...hallelujah. Most readers here will think that's a ridiculous statement, but when you enjoy skiing and live in a ski town, having brown hillsides in January is not cool. So hopefully the storms will start rolling in, but in the meantime we enjoyed the cold stuff in our yard today. I had to fight Luke tooth and nail to get his snow clothes on--he DID NOT want to go outside. But as we suspected, he had a grand old time once he got out there and rolled around a bit. And he thought it was hilarious to crush the snowman that Keith was building.
Anna B. watched longingly from inside. We'll get her out tomorrow too...
