About To Be Three

In anticipation of Luke's 3rd birthday tomorrow (it'll probably be his birthday already by the time some of you read this), I dug into the iPhoto archives to pull out a few snapshots from his birth, first birthday, and second birthday...

At a few hours old he was already cute...

 At a few days old, he was already active...

 And look how tiny he was, sleeping with Grandpa Millette in our Chicago apartment...

 He has always had big blue eyes, but this was before his gorgeous dark eyelashes grew in...

On to June 2010, after living in Vancouver since the age of 3 weeks old, here he is at age one...he still loves this dump truck, though it has many miles and lots of dirt on it at this point. His hair was finally filling in and it came in with lots of curls. We were just weeks away from moving to Utah...

 We celebrated his 1st birthday on Jericho beach in Point Grey...

Luke turned 2 in June 2011 and he was sporting this longish, curly-ish do...

Here's a guy who (in the time from 1 to 2 years old) had had stitches, been on a airplane many times, been out of a crib for 7 months, had a 2-month old baby sister, and much more...lots of action for a little guy...

And tomorrow he'll turn 3. It is absolutely amazing how much he has changed (as any child does) from birth to age 3. They say that people experience the most growth--physically and mentally--between birth and 18 months; I can see how that's true. And I've been astonished at how much Luke has changed between age 2 and 3 in terms of language/speech, comprehension, social skills (thanks to pre-school) and physical ability. 

On the eve of age 3, however, it feels like we're so far from potty training and listening/ direction following... but maybe (hopefully) Luke's 3rd year will bring those things and more!
