Breakthrough!

We decided to take the kids to Alta today and I'm so happy to report that everyone had a great time. It was a real breakthrough for Luke on skis. Not only did he NOT whine and flail around as we tried to put his gear on, but he actually had a good time. And he skied really well (see video at bottom). 

Anna had a good time too, riding in the backpack with me. Each time we stopped and saw someone on the run, they commented on how smiley and happy she looked. We were only there for two hours, but apparently it was enough action for Luke & Anna, as they both fell asleep on the ride home.

When we got back to Salt Lake we went to our favorite pizza place, then went home for chocolate cake to celebrate Anna's birthday. I took some priceless photos of her sinking her teeth directly into the cake, and subsequently getting covered in chocolate, but guess what... the camera setting was accidentally messed up so the photos came out black!!! I AM SO BUMMED! Plus, (and I'm not even exaggerating here) after she took a direct bite of the cake, she said "yum." Her first word; it was as clear as day.

It was 70 degrees in Salt Lake today, so we also had a chance to play in the yard, all wearing shorts and t-shirts. 

All in all, it was a wonderful way to celebrate our baby girl's first birthday. We can't believe that she's one already, and that we no longer have a baby in the house :) / :(
